Bintang Sumatra Pacific (BSP) is committed to provide investors with exposure to premium andesite stone quarry that offers sustainable production and cashflow.

Our aim to achieve excellence as a premium andesite stone quarry company, ramping up to a total of 1 million tons per year for domestic buyer, especially for Sumatra toll road contractors through:

  • Taking advantage of our multi-disciplinary skills set, experience and relationships developed over 10 years.
  • Expanding of our existing quarry production and resource footprint in the Padang Quarry through organic growth.
  • Exploring of our substantial andesite stone quarry (+30 hectares), located within Lima Puluh Kota’s emerging Pangkalan site, and
  • Identifying and acquiring additional quarry assets.

BSP has a portfolio of producing, development and exploring assets across Bukit Barisan, Sumatra. Pangkalan Quarry in Padang commenced production in March 2016. This quarry produces an average of 600,000 tons of saleable andesite stone per annum, primarily for the domestic market.

BSP has some estimated reserves of 60 million tons of low-cost, high-margin premium andesite stone across 30 hectares quarry in Pangkalan, Padang, West Sumatra.

Sustainability

BSP takes a proactive approach towards Environmental Management. In prior mining activities, all environmental impacts were identified, and Environmental Management plans developed. The Environmental Management plans are developed to address the negative impacts that could arise from the exploring, operating and decommissioning phases in line with government regulation. The main environmental aspects of our operations relate to Water Management, Land and Biodiversity Management, Waste Management, Air Quality Management, Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emissions.

Environmental Legal Compliance

Our goal is to go beyond compliance with environmental statutory requirements.

As a result, Pangkalan Quarry has been granted all relevant environmental licenses to operate.

Environmental Performance

Environmental objectives and targets have been developed to provide clear
benchmarks to measure the improvement and success of our environmental programs over time.

No major or reportable environmental non-compliances have occurred in all our operations.

Environmental Monitoring and Review

Environmental monitoring reviews, which include inspections, risk assessments, internal audits, independent audits by Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the processing and analyzing of environmental data are conducted regularly to assess and generate mitigation plans to manage the impacts of quarry activities on the environment.

Rehabilitation and Closure

The rehabilitation liability for the Pangkalan Quarry has been accurately quantified and the financial guarantees have been provided to the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources to provision for rehabilitation costs at quarry closure.

Safety and Health

Central to our goal of zero harm is our commitment to develop, implement and maintain Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems that drives continual improvement.

The safety and health of our employees and contractors are priority for BSP and appropriate risk management systems exist for all production sites.

Employees are provided with appropriate and ongoing training and protective gears to prevent injuries and health risks.

Community Services

Our mission is well focused on generating economic vibrancy to our host community who has so far made the environment conducive for our operation. Our approach to enterprise and supplier development is to nurture, advance and sustain Small, Medium and Micro-sized Enterprises (SMMEs) by providing technical and business development support, through mentoring and coaching.

As part of Pangkalan Quarry’s enterprise development program to empower small- medium and micro enterprises, few local people have been selected and awarded a contract to participate in the quarry ranging from our operation to
various quarry activities.

In addition, individuals from the vicinity of Pangkalan operation have been assisted to establish a small business that will operate the farming facility. The prospective entrepreneurs have been equipped with essential skills to run the shops and empowered with the resources needed to develop the company into a supplier for quarry needs, establish themselves in their respective markets and expand their networks.

Board Commitment

The Board of Directors of the company is responsible for the corporate governance of the company. The Board guides and monitors the business and affairs of the company on behalf of the shareholders by whom they are elected and to whom they are accountable to. To ensure the Board is well equipped to discharge its responsibilities, it has established guidelines for the nomination and selection of directors and for its own sustainable operations.

As it acts on behalf of the shareholders and is accountable to the shareholders, the Board seeks to accurately identify the expectations of the shareholders, as well as other regulatory and ethical expectations and obligations. In addition, the Board is responsible for identifying areas of significant risk and ensuring arrangements are in place to adequately manage those risks.
